Net Direct Tax collections (provisional) for Financial Year (FY) 2023-24 exceed Union Budget Estimates by Rs. 1.35 lakh crore i.e. by 7.40%

New Delhi, April 22, 2024.The provisional figures of Direct Tax collections for the Financial Year (FY) 2023-24 show that Net collections are at Rs. 19.58 lakh crore, compared to Rs. 16.64 lakh crore in the preceding Financial Year i.e. FY 2022-23, representing an increase of 17.70%.The Budget Estimates (BE) for Direct Tax revenue in the Union Budget for FY 2023- 24 were fixed at Rs. 18.23 lakh crore which were revised and the Revised Estimates (RE) were fixed at Rs. 19.45 lakh crore. Wipro Q4 net profit falls 7.8% to Rs 2,835 cr; new CEO flags uncertainty in macro environment

New Delhi, April 20, 2024.IT service company Wipro on Friday reported a 7.8 per cent year-on-year decline in its consolidated net profit for the March quarter to about Rs 2834.6 crore, and cautioned that the macroeconomic environment remains "uncertain".The Bengaluru-headquartered company, which recently saw a change of guard with Srinivas Pallia taking over at the helm as the new Chief Executive Officer, has given IT Services revenue growth guidance in the (-)1.5 per cent to +0.5 per cent band for June quarter on a constant currency basis.While the numbers were in line with the analysts' estimates, the guidance of the company was below industry expectations.

The unit hit an intra-day high of 83.49.The domestic unit finally settled at 83.55 (provisional) against the dollar, 6 paise higher from its previous close.

New Delhi, April 18, 2024.Gold loan financier Muthoot Finance on Thursday said its board has approved USD 2 billion (about Rs 16,500 crore) External Commercial Borrowing (ECB) plan to fund business expansion.The Finance Committee of the Board of Directors of Muthoot Finance at its meeting held on Thursday has approved the update of the existing Global Medium Term Note (GMTN) Programme aggregating to USD 2 billion, Muthoot Finance said in a regulatory filing.The company has also approved the offering circular and the programme agreement and other transaction documents to be executed with respect to the GMTN Programme, it said.

Mumbai, April 15, 2024.The rupee declined 6 paise to settle at 83.44 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday, in line with deep losses in equity markets and an elevated dollar against major rivals overseas amid geopolitical tensions.However, weakening crude oil prices in the international markets and positive domestic macroeconomic data restricted the rupee's fall, forex traders said.At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 83.46 and traded between 83.42 and 83.47 against the greenback.
