Hundreds of deaths have occurred across the country due to extreme heat and heatwave. But governments are not paying attention to this. This comment was made today by the Rajasthan High Court while taking suo motu cognizance of the deaths due to heatwave.
Regarding the deaths due to heat wave, Justice Anup Kumar Dhandh said that now the time has come to declare heat wave and cold wave as national disasters and make advance preparations to deal with these natural disaster.
The court has also directed the state government to pay appropriate compensation in case of deaths caused by the heatwave. Besides, the court has also issued several guidelines to the government to provide relief to the people
