#SheTheDifference: Celebrating the incredible women record holders featured in the prestigious Limca Book of Records 2024

Limca Book of Records proudly presents its top women achievers and their exceptional accomplishments. These women have defied conventional expectations, pushed boundaries and set new standards of excellence. In sports, particularly, they’ve made history, inspiring others to dream big and break barriers. The Limca Book of Records honours their pioneering spirit, showcasing their remarkable triumphs. Here is a glimpse of a few incredible women whose names will forever be etched in the Limca Book of Records, exemplifying the spirit of courage, perseverance, and excellence –

  • Ayhika Mukherjee and Sutirtha Mukherjee became the first Indian women’s doubles pair in table tennis to win a medal at the Asian Games 2022. The duo won the bronze medal with a historic win over the Chinese pair of Chen Meng and Wang Yidi, then World No. 2 and 4 respectively.
  • Shot putter Kiran Baliyan won India’s first medal in the discipline at the Asian Games 2022. Her bronze medal in the field event was also India’s first shot put medal since the inaugural 1951 Asian Games.
  • Jyothi Yarraji became the first Indian 100m hurdler to win a medal at the 2022 Asian Games. The national record holder took the silver medal with a timing of 12 minutes and 91 seconds.
  • CA Bhavani Devi became the first Indian fencer to win a medal at the Asian Fencing Championships by winning the bronze medal in 2023. In the quarter-finals, Devi set a remarkable score of 15-10 against Misaki Emura from Japan to move to the semi-finals against Zaynab Dayibekova from Uzbekistan.
  • The Indian Women’s kabaddi teambecame the first team to winthe gold medalthrice in their discipline at the Asian Games after defeating Chinese Taipei in the final. The team had previously won the medals in 2010 and 2014.
  • Sukraty Saxena, Rupam Devedi, Swaranjali Saxena, and Apala Rajvanshi achieved the fastest Golden Quadrilateral (GQ) expedition in a four-wheeler by a group of women. They covered a distance of 6,263 km in 6 days, 14 hours, and 5 minutes. The expedition began at 1:35 a.m. on May 10, 2023, from India Gate, New Delhi, and concluded at 4:30 p.m. on May 16, 2023, at Subroto Park Air Force Station, New Delhi.
