54th IFFI to touch half way mark: Turkish film “About Dry Grasses” to be screened tomorrow as Midfest Film

As the 54th International Film Festival of India touches its half way mark tomorrow, About Dry Grasses, a captivating Turkish cinematic masterpiece directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan will be screened as the Mid Fest Film. The film, known for its enthralling storyline and exceptional performances, has garnered international acclaim, with its latest accolade being the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival 2023.

About Dry Grasses has already made its mark at prestigious film festivals worldwide, including Cannes Film Festival 2023, Toronto International Film Festival 2023, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2023, Busan International Film Festival 2023, and Sao Paulo International Film Festival 2023. Its compelling narrative has resonated with global audiences, making it a standout film in the cinematic landscape.

About Dry Grasses will be screened at the INOX Screen-1 in Panaji at 5:30 pm tomorrow (24.11.2023).The cast and crew of the film will be honored during the screening.

A Glimpse into the Film’s Narrative

Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan

Nuri Bilge Ceylan, born in Istanbul in 1959, has established himself as a prominent figure in filmmaking. His journey began with the short film Koza in 1995, competing at the Festival de Cannes. Notable achievements include the Caligari Prize at the Berlin Film Festival for Kasaba in 1998 and the Grand Prix and Best Actor prize at Cannes for Uzak (Distant) in 2003. His film Winter Sleep won the Palme d’Or at the 67th Cannes Film Festival in 2014. Six of Ceylan’s films, including About Dry Grasses were submitted as Turkey’s entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
